This season, we invite you into worlds that breathe.
Worlds that are built from light, sound, silence, movement, and story.
Worlds where boundaries dissolve, between audience and artist, between language and gesture, between self and other.
Ghost River Theatre is more than theatre. It is a laboratory for imagination, a meeting place for diverse voices, and a space where form becomes feeling. Here, every experience is an act of discovery.
The Room Sculpture Experience
September 23 - 26, 2025
A living sculpture. A breath of light.
A space where creation and destruction are one and the same.
Here, the audience becomes maker, and the theatre becomes a playground of possibility, an immersive act of shared imagination.
Echoes of the Land
September 30, 2025
A reverence to listen.
A ceremony of remembrance.
On Truth and Reconciliation Day, in partnership with the Werklund Centre, Echoes of the Land gathers voices long silenced and transforms them into living memory—an offering to the land, to the stories it holds, and to the people who walk upon it.
The Impossible Light (Surreal SoReal Theatre, Montréal)
January 15 - 18, 2026
A cave.
A living light.
A man haunted by fear.
In Jon Lachlan Stewart’s visionary work, boundaries between memory and the present dissolve. This is an allegory of fatherhood, technology, and our fragile connection to life and to one another. Presented with High Performance Rodeo.
A World Without Them
February 6 - 15, 2026
A world without language as we know it.
A world told through gesture, image, and breath.
With Deaf artist Landon Krentz, we enter a poetic exploration of extinction and survival, carried through visual vernacular into a new landscape of story that speaks to everyone.
Artist in Residence 2025–26: Jamie Konchak
This season, we are honoured to welcome Jamie Konchak as Ghost River Theatre’s Artist in Residence.Jamie is a fearless actor, creator, and deviser whose work lives in the space between movement and meaning. Her artistry has shaped Ghost River’s work for over a decade—always challenging, constantly renewing.
In Frontier, Jamie invites us into the silence of the Alberta badlands, into a story of survival and grief told without words, where the body becomes the language. Her residency is a living testament to the power of risk, collaboration, and transformation.
Professional Development: The Ghost River Theatre Intensives
We continue our commitment to cultivating artistic growth.
Through our 4-Day and National Devised Intensives, we invite artists from around the world to Calgary to enter deeply into Ghost River’s methodology and to share in a rare act of creative exploration. These programs are laboratories of movement, form, and imagination—places where the future of devised theatre takes shape.
Join Us in the Work of Seeing Differently
Our 2025–26 season is an invitation to see, to feel, to inhabit another way of being.
Through these works, we offer new perspectives on ourselves, our communities, and the world we share.
Step inside.
Witness.
Participate.
Welcome to the season. Welcome to the journey.
