a unique and imaginative evening of SIPS, STORYTELLING, and SURPRISES!
One-night only, limited seating.

TASTING SCOTCH is an unforgettable blindfolded tasting journey to expand an audience's sensory perception of some of the world's most exceptional scotches. Conceptually designed as a performance fundraiser for Ghost River Theatre by Eric Rose in collaboration with one of Canada's most revered scotch experts Andrew Ferguson, this is a scotch encounter unlike any other you have ever experienced.

This instalment features an added partnership with Last Best Brewing and Distillery, who will be providing a customized assortment of delectable food to keep bellies full and pair well with the tantalizing journey inside the glass. TASTING SCOTCH features renowned playwright Jason Patrick Rothery, award winning sound renegade Matthew Waddell, and performer extraordinaire Louise Casemore who will be unearthing her own Scottish heritage and dusting off her Highland Fling as a performer for the piece.

Take a taste of adventure across the Scottish moors travelling through history to hear the secret stories and histories of 5 of the world’s top distilleries. This event is a can’t miss for the scotch fan who dares to test their palate or the curious newcomer who favours the bold!

Audience members are blindfolded, and led into the venue where they experience an intimate scotch tasting that mingles live performance, immersive sound design and a specially designed tactile tasting mat that engage the audiences sense of touch. And of course, there is some incredible scotches, each chosen for their unique taste and geographic profile.

"I’ve been putting on specialized whisky tastings for nearly 15 years, and this type of event is a first, not just for me but possibly in the world of whisky," says Ferguson. "We are taking 5 whiskies, breaking down their stories, their sense of place and creating a narrative around them. Participants are led blindfolded on a journey of touch, taste, sound and scent. By removing our participants sense of sight we want not just to enhance the other senses but allow their imaginations to take control of the experience."

TASTING SCOTCH is part of the Six Senses Series, a bold series of sensory performance experiences that Ghost River has been producing for the past four years. Each instalment focuses on the theatrical potential of our senses. Tasting Scotch, re-imagines the traditional scotch tasting as a multisensory performance, designed to expand the audience's sensory perception of some of the worlds most exceptional scotches.
