The End of the World (As We Know It)

World Premieres - Only in Calgary!

The only professional theatre company in Calgary that produces exclusively new work, Ghost River Theatre is proud to announce our eleventh season of groundbreaking premieres.

Ghost River is renowned for ambitious, politically-charged, collaboratively-created premiere productions. Multiple-award-winning works such as AN EYE FOR AN EYE and MESA have toured across Canada. This year sees TWO INTERNATIONAL TOURS as our BETTY-WINNING CONFESSIONS OF A PAPERBOY travels to Florida for the 30th Annual Tampa Bay Performing Arts Showcase, and the much-beloved MESA spends one month on the road in the United Kingdom. We’re also thrilled to be co-producing the site-specific snow and ice fantasia NiX with ATP and Vancouver’s renowned The Only Animal at this year’s playRites Festival.

In 2006/07, While My Mother Lay Dreaming opened to rave reviews and audience acclaim in both Edmonton and Calgary. Confessions of a Paperboy won the hearts of patrons and critics alike, and was nominated for six Betty Mitchell Awards – winning for OUTSTANDING LIGHTING DESIGN (Cimmeron Meyer) and OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A FEMALE IN A LEAD ROLE (Jennie Esdale). 2007/08 is our most ambitious season to date.
