Ghost River began as an ad-hoc group of artists in 1992 and quickly established itself as a leader of performance theatre in Canada. In 1996 Ghost River coalesced into a company proper and, in 1999, incorporated as a non-profit society, established a Board of Directors, and created several innovative workshop series in performance storytelling including No Acting Required, Writing on Your Feet and Reclaiming Our Voice. In 2000, Ghost River declared itself the Official Theatre Company of the New Millennium and, to our knowledge, we still hold that title.
