Ghost River Theatre is one of the rare companies that creates all its own work.  Imaginative stories uniquely created and shared; human stories that matter to our audiences.   Creating new work like a rich soup takes time to simmer, and innovative work - like innovation in any industry - requires lots of clever minds thinking, playing and experimenting together.  Calgary is a centre of innovation in many ways, and GRT's stories are birthed out of the local experience - not imported.  

Our productions consistently receive very high audience and critical praise.  For a small company of three part-time employees, Ghost River has consistently punched above its weight, and has won the Betty Mitchell Award for Outstanding Production two years running, for The Highest Step in the World (2010) and ONE (2011). We could not have achieved such amazing work without your impassioned support. But Ghost River Theatre needs the financial support of people like you in order for us to continue to take giant innovative leaps in our storytelling. Your help will provide us with a sustainable framework to achieve goals like:

• hiring local emerging artists to spark the next generation of play makers
• giving our talented artists the vital time they need to create and develop new and innovative stories.  More time means inspired and unusual work like The Highest Step in the World on our stages for you
• keeping important Ghost River-created stories alive after their Calgary premières by helping us secure the necessary resources to tour our work to other communities across the country.

Ghost River Theatre is a small company, but we’re ambitious. We're planning more new and daring productions.  But without your collaboration, our ambition will only take us halfway.
